In the WPL, the Mumbai Indians faced off against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in a crucial match. Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of Mumbai Indians, won the toss and chose to invite RCB to bat first.
Sophie Devine, who had scored an impressive 99 in the previous game against Gujarat Giants, was expected to showcase her skills once again. However, her innings was cut short on the third ball due to a mix-up with Mandhana.
MI’s Nat Sciver-Brunt opened the bowling and delivered a good length ball outside off to Devine, who tapped it towards backward point for a single.
However, Devine hesitated and turned back, leaving Mandhana stranded. Although everyone expected the fielder to throw at the bowler’s end, she threw the ball to the wicketkeeper, who dislodged the bails and caught Devine short of the crease.
The decision was referred to the third umpire, who confirmed that Devine was out due to the wicketkeeper’s gloves dislodging the bails after collecting the throw.
