United States of America faced Papua New Guinea for the 2nd ODI on Thursday. USA set a target of 271 runs in front of PNG. It was because of Jaskaran Malhotra’s unbeaten 173 off 124 deliveries which included 4 fours and 16 sixes that USA reached to this huge total. Jaskaran became the first ever American to score an ODI hundred.

USA’s batsmen Jaskaran Malhotra becomes the 2nd batsmen in the history of cricket after Herschelle Gibbs to score six sixes in an over in an ODI match. Earlier this record was held by Herschelle Gibbs who scored six sixes against Netherlands in the 2007 World Cup match at West Indies. Jaskaran is the fourth overall cricketer to score six sixes in an over. Jaskaran joins Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh and Keiron Pollard who also holds the same record. Malhotra on Thursday achieved the record in the final over of the game.
Papua New Guinea won the toss and elected to field at Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket. USA did not have a good start to the innings. After 20 overs they managed to score 72 runs losing 4 wickets. But Jaskaran stood on the pitch and scored a brilliant century which broke many records.

Gaudi Toka came to bowl in the final over of the first innings. Toka was unable to pick a single wicket. Jaskaran went after the bowler to score six sixes in an over. Toka bowled 7 overs and conceded 66 runs at an economy of 9.43.
Jaskaran broke another record in the process. He overtook former Proteas batsmen AB De Villiers accumulated the highest score by a number 5 batsman in ODI cricket.
