During the 48th match of the 2021 edition of IPL, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal found themselves lucky as KL Rahul missed the opportunity to remove both of them.
Winning the toss, Virat Kohli decided to bat first at Abu Dhabi for the first game of the day. Royal Challengers Bangalore are inches closer to book their playoffs berth. They are currently poised in the third position of the table with 14 points in 11 matches so far. Whereas, KL Rahul’s PBKS are in need of a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Kohli went unchanged in the game while PBKS made three changes, bringing in Harpreet Brar, Sarfaraz Khan and Moises Henriques in place for Fabain Allen, Deepak Hooda and Nathan Ellis.
Opening the innings, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal got off to a flying start. The two were looking in good touch right from the beginning as RCB aims to register their 8th win of the season. The two managed to score 55 runs at the end of the powerplay without losing a wicket.
Virat Kohli has been given two lives in his 25-run innings while Devdutt Padikkal got one live before being dismissed by Moises Henriques.

Looking for a breakthrough, PBKS skipper KL Rahul handed the ball to Ravi Bishnoi in the 4th over of the game. In the very first ball of the over, Kohli stepped out of his crease. Ravi Bishnoi spotted him down and bowled a wide ball towards the leg side so that KL Rahul can stump him. But KL Rahul fumbles and lets him down. Virat Kohli would have been easily short of his crease if Rahul would have knocked the bails off.
In the very next ball, KL Rahul dropped a catch. Ravi Bishnoi bowled a googly, spinning across as Padikkal goes slogging across the line, getting a thin nick on the outside-edge. KL Rahul once again missed the opportunity to remove a batsman.
