SunRisers Hyderabad won their second match of the season today at the Dubai International Stadium in UAE as they beat Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets and 9 balls remaining. The only other match which SRH won was against PBKS in the 1st part of the season.

Former SRH skipper David Warner who won the trophy with them in 2016 is struggling to find his form. In the 1st part of the season, Warner stepped down as the captain of SRH. Kane Williamson took over the responsibility since then.

In today’s game against RR, David Warner was not seen in the stadium. Eventually he was dropped from the playing XI as Jason Roy replaced the Australian cricketer. Roy got the opportunity to play for the first time in SRH shirts. Jason Roy made full use of the opportunity and smashed 60 runs off 42 balls. After his dismissal by Chetan Sakariya, skipper Kane Williamson scored an unbeaten 51 runs off 41 balls and chased down the total for his side along with Abhishek Sharma who scored an unbeaten 21 off 16 deliveries.

This is SRH first win after five consecutive losses in the Indian Premier League. SRH are out of the playoff race as they gathered 4 points from 10 matches. This win keeps the playoff hopes alive of teams like Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings with four games remaining.

David Warner’s lack of form is a big reason for SRH downfall in this year’s IPL.

Meanwhile, during the match David Warner confirmed that he will not play for SRH and will confirm his exit at the end of the season. He clearly said that the people won’t see him in orange shirts from now.

After the completion of 10 overs, Sunrisers Hyderabad updated the scoreline for their fans by posting a photo on Instagram. In the comments section, fan questioned where was Warner in the RR vs SRH game.

To which the opening batsman replied Unfortunately won’t be against but keep supporting, please”

David Warner also congratulated Jason Roy after he completed his fifty on social media. He also congratulated Kane Williamson on winning the match.

As a captain, David Warner has led SRH to their maiden IPL trophy in 2016. Warner scored 848 runs in that season for SRH. He has managed to score 195 runs in 8 games for SRH this season. David Warner has won the orange cap five times for SRH in the past years. He has crossed the 500-run mark six times between 2014 and 2020.
