Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are set to debut in a new form for IPL 2023. The franchise has launched its team’s new jersey for the upcoming IPL. LSG organized a special event in which BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka, team captain KL Rahul, and mentor Gautam Gambhir were present for the jersey launch.

During the event, KL Rahul faced a question from the media regarding strike rate in T20 cricket, which he responded with a surprising statement. KL Rahul’s recent Test form has been poor, which led to his exclusion from the third Test match.

However, during the launch of his team’s new jersey for this IPL season, he made a big statement in response to a question about strike rate, saying, “I think strike rate is overrated. It depends on the demands of the game, like if you are chasing 140, you don’t need a strike rate of 200. It depends on the current situation of the match.”

KL Rahul has previously spoken about strike rate in a similar manner, and his T20 strike rate and approach have been criticized during that time. Last year, the Lucknow team played their first season in the IPL, captained by KL Rahul. He was second on the list of most runs in IPL 2022, scoring 616 runs in 15 matches with a strike rate of 135.38.

When it comes to international T20 cricket, his strike rate is 126.53 and during the T20 World Cup last year, his strike rate was even lower. He scored a total of 128 runs in 6 matches with a strike rate of 120.75.
