Aiden Markram brilliant pull shot in the 1st ODI: Aiden Markram scored a brilliant six off Dushmantha Chameera ball in the 7th over of the game. The six is a brilliant one because of the shot he played. Markram executed a brilliant pull shot against the Lankans. It was a proper textbook pull shot played by the Proteas batsmen. If any kid were to learn the shot, he should surely see this one.

Markam went on to score 96 runs with his side finishing at 286/6. The Home side scored 300/9 batting first. The Proteas lost the match by 14 runs.

Sri Lankan opener Avishka Fernando was the man of the match in the 1st ODI match of the series. Fernando scored a brilliant 118 off 115 balls which included 10 fours and 2 sixes. Asalanka (72) and Dhananjaya De Silva (44) also added some valuable runs to reach a total of 300 for the Lankan side. Aiden Markram and Van der Dussen fought well for their respective scores of 96 and 59 but that wasn’t enough for the Proteas as they fell short by 14 runs.
The Home side have taken the lead in the three match ODI series by 1-0. The second ODI will take place at R. Premadasa Stadium on September 4.
