WATCH: Dwayne Bravo’s cameo helps CSK reach 156, Gaikwad sends Bumrah for a six off the last ball

Mumbai Indians dismantled Chennai Super Kings top order in quick succession. Opener Faf Du Plessis and Moeen Ali were dismissed for a duck. Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni did not impress much and were dismissed cheaply.

But Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja came to the rescue. When Jadeja arrived at the crease CSK were struggling at 24/4. Jadeja departed in the 17th over of the game after making an 81-run partnership with opener Gaikwad.

Dwayne Bravo was silent in the first two deliveries he faced. In the final ball of the 18th over, Bravo lofts Milne’s ball over the extra cover for a huge six. In the next over, Bravo smashed Boult for a six. Boult attempted to bowl a yorker but missed it and bowled a slot ball. Bravo played a lofted cover drive to deliver the ball to the crowd. In the very next delivery, Boult bowled a short ball. Bravo pulls the ball over the deep mid-wicket for another massive six. Bravo hit three consecutive sixes as he completely destroyed MI bowlers.

However, Bravo’s cameo came to an end after Bumrah bowled a back of the length ball. Dwayne Bravo played some extraordinary cover drives at the end of the innings. His quickfire 23 off 8 ball helped CSK shift the momentum towards the end of the innings.

Ruturaj Gaikwad played a fabulous innings for his side. He scored an unbeaten 88 runs off 58 deliveries which included 9 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 151.72. Rituraj yielded boundaries and did not care whether it was Milne, Bumrah or Boult. Boult conceded 24 runs in the penultimate over of the game. Even Jasprit Bumrah conceded 15 runs in the final over of the game.

Bumrah who is known for his death bowling was punished in the final ball of the game. Rituraj played a sweep shot over backward square leg for a six. Bumrah again missed the yorker and bowled a low full toss. Gaikwad went low and hit him for a six to end the innings in a high. Gaikwad was highly appreciated by the crowd and MI players for his valuable innings of 88 runs. It was because of Gaikwad’s immense contributions that CSK managed to score 156 at the expense of 6 wickets.

CSK have put up a massive target in front of MI after their top order failed miserably. CSK now have a total to fight for and lets see how the bowlers can do in the 2nd part of the game.
