Jio Cinema recently named Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of Team India and a four-time IPL champion, as their brand ambassador. In a bid to make digital platforms the preferred choice for Indian Premier League fans, Jio Cinema has launched their first advertisement featuring MS Dhoni ahead of the tournament’s commencement on March 31.
The digital rights for the men’s IPL from 2023-2027 were acquired by Viacom 18 for ₹20,500 crore, whereas the television rights were secured by Star Sports Network. Jio Cinema is making every effort to encourage Indian cricket fans to opt for digital streaming over television for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League.
After naming the former Indian captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, as their brand ambassador, Jio Cinema shared their inaugural advertisement featuring him on Twitter.
Upon his appointment as the brand ambassador of Jio Cinema, MS Dhoni expressed his belief that the best way to enjoy watching sports is through the convenience of on-the-go viewing or from the comfort of one’s home. He also highlighted the importance of interactivity, choice, and personalization which can only be offered by a digital platform.
The 2023 season of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to take place from March 31 to May 28, with MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings playing against defending champions Gujarat Titans in the opening game.
