Lucknow Super Giants failed to capitalize on a good batting surface against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday, managing only 159 runs—well below par for the conditions.
An early breakthrough with the dismissal of Karun Nair gave LSG a glimmer of hope, but a composed partnership between Abishek Porel and KL Rahul quickly tilted the momentum in Delhi’s favor.
At that point, taking a wicket seemed like the only way back for LSG—but as desperation grew, so did the chaos in decision-making.
This was most evident during a bizarre DRS call in the seventh over, under Rishabh Pant’s leadership. On the final ball of Digvesh Rathi’s over, the mystery spinner delivered a loopy ball outside off that spun past Rahul’s forward defense and struck his pads. W
hile the hosts appealed, the umpire was unmoved, and Rahul casually walked to his partner—unaware of the drama unfolding behind him.
Rathi, convinced he had his man, urged Pant to go upstairs. Despite the visible hesitation, Pant eventually signaled for the review. As expected by nearly everyone watching, the ball had pitched well outside off, and the decision remained not out.
It was a wasted review—and a moment of frustration for Pant, who reacted with a mock slap toward Rathi during an animated exchange, before brushing it off with a laugh.

Social media, however, was less forgiving. Fans mocked the team’s poor use of DRS and criticized Pant for compounding their troubles—not just with the bat, but also through questionable on-field calls.
